Boards of the Church
The Session consists of the pastors and eighteen elders in active service, elected by the congregation. Session is responsible for the mission and government of the church, including the oversight of all other boards, committees, and organizations.
The Board of Deacons consists of twenty-four Deacons in active service, elected by the congregation. "It is the duty of the Deacons to minister to the sick, the friendless, and any who may be in distress." This is accomplished through the work of a variety of committees and through the administration of the Deacon's Community Outreach Fund. Among other duties, the Deacons also plan many of the church's fellowship activities and arrange for ushers for worship services. The Board of Trustees consists of nine members in active service elected by the congregation. The responsibilities of the board include overseeing the maintenance of the physical property, buildings, and equipment of the church, as well as working with the Session and managing the finances of the church. EducationChristian Education offers the opportunity for participants to reflect on their life experience in light of scripture (plus current and historical theology) incorporating sound educational theory. The following is a listing of all Sunday School classes, ages, and where they meet:

The Presbyterian Church is organized in a system of governing bodies composed of presbyters, both elders and ministers. The offices of elder and deacon are open to both men and women and are nominated and elected by the congregation.
The Session is the governing body of the church. A board of elders, moderated by the minister, is responsible for the mission and government of the particular church. The Presbytery is a corporate expression of the church consisting of all the churches in a geographic area. It has the authority to install ministers in a particular church and discipline clergy, as well as congregations. Most presbyteries have a full-time staff. The Synod is made up of an equal number of lay and clergy delegates from the presbyteries in a larger geographical area. Synods are organized to encourage and facilitate regional ministries. The General Assembly is the national ruling body of the Presbyterian Church. It meets once a year and is made up of an equal number of lay and clergy commissioners elected by the presbyteries. The General Assembly oversees the work of the many national agencies of the church, acts on petitions from presbyteries, establishes task forces, and proposes constitutional and doctrinal changes which must be ratified by the presbyteries. MusicMusic is as important part of the life and work of Third Presbyterian Church. Through music, we are able to glorify God and enhance our Sunday morning worship services.
The Chancel Choir sings at the 9:15 worship service. Choir practice is every Thursday at 6:30 P.M. All singers are welcome. "When you sing you pray twice." The Silver Bells (Adults Handbell Choir) rehearse on Thursdays at 5:30 pm. (September thru May)
